Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began getting noticed. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. The singer continued uploading her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, which came out on the 21st July. it out on 21st July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time and wanted her to create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat was a track she sang alongside Cozz for her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. The 21st of October, 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she appeared on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. and Bas in Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. Then on the 9th of November 2018 she dropped two additional singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On the 13th of November, two brand new singles called No One and pedigree. They then teamed up in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on the 26th of February 2019 to accompany her debut album with the same name. In February of 2019 the music video for the track was launched. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views in just one week. In December of 2018 she performed on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
